GAME PREVIEW
GERMANY got their 2010 campaign off to a flying start, beating Australia 4-0, while Serbia failed to produce the form they showed in qualifying, losing 1-0 to Ghana in their opening game. Germany were guided to their emphatic victory by sterling performances from Miroslav Klose, Lukas Podolski (who scored a goal each) and Mesut Ozil, who had a commanding midfield display. This is Serbia’s first finals since gaining independence from Yugoslavia and if they wish to be anywhere near as successful as their predecessors they must beat Germany to get their campaign back on track. Serbia will hope that their star players rediscover the form they showed during qualifying and give Germany a real run for their money. Germany have met Serbia 27 times (includes games against Yugoslavia) with the Germans winning 16 games to Serbia’s seven with four draws. With an average of three goals being scored a game, in past encounters, this match could be a very exciting example of football filled with goals and attacking flair.
